Bowyer drawing prize winner

Andrew Barrowman is a painter of landscapes and seascapes working mainly in oils. Based in West Cornwall, most of his subjects are usually discovered whilst walking his dog. He finds skies and the Cornish light particularly fascinating. Andrew doesn’t have to travel far to discover locations for his work, often finding the most interesting subjects are everyday places. Plein air sketchbook work and outdoor painting is an integral part of Andrew’s practice.

Farm tracks and lanes, corners of fields, distant glimpses of the sea, views from the coast path and sunrises or sunsets seen from the beach are painted either on location or in the studio at Krowji using plein air sketches as reference. Andrew runs the Sketching Cornwall Club at Krowji where members explore the Redruth area through sketching.

Upcoming shows and exhibitions where you can see Andrew’s work:

South West Academy at Kennaway House Sidmouth Devon 2 – 13 November

Royal Institute of Oil Painters at Mall Galleries London 24 November – 5 December

Krowji Christmas Open Studios Redruth Cornwall 26 – 27 November
